Is
it cool or cruel?
It is dangerous!
Help prevent unnecessary injury and suffering to dogs!
Please don't transport your dog in the back of an open truck. If you are forced to swerve or stop suddenly, your dog could be thrown out of the truck and be crippled or killed, or cause people to be crippled or killed!
Look at what happens to windshields, the impact of a small insect or pebble could cause blindness, nose, throat or ear injuries to your pet.
Even with a cooling breeze, a dog without shade can suffer sunstroke. The box reflexes the heat even when its parked.
The metal or rubber lined box can reach temperatures high enough to cause discomfort or damage to your dogs feet.
The wind chill at 50 to 110 km when travelling is inhumane to even a double coated dog if soaked to the skin on a cold rainy day. Any motorcyclist can tell you rain feels like needles on your face at 110km.
Do the math, 110 km at 20 below and no hands to hold on?
Most people don't intend to be cruel, so please if you love your dog, be sure it's safe.
Lunging, barking dogs can be a hazard for pedestrians or cyclists at stop signs and parking lots.
Better options to do instead:
Buy a canopy for your truck or secure an insulated kennel for winter and a ventilated one for summer. (There are special crate liners that heat up to keep dogs warm)
There are even little fans that run off the cigarette lighter and crate liners that keep dogs cool.
Put your dog in the cab
Leave your dog safe at home
Take your dog to dog day care while you run errands or need to leave your pet in your vehicle on a very hot or a very cold day
